Here's what you need to know...

  • There are many reasons why you need to have comprehensive coverage
  • Each state has its own requirement for mandatory coverage
  • Liability insurance does not pay for damage

One of the highest viewed videos on You Tube is entitled the World’s Best Drivers, which is a completely ironic title, and for good reason.

Since there is no way some of these accidents could happen except with an extreme case of bad luck and driving skills, it makes one wonder how the drivers that are behind the wheel at the time even passed their driving test.

A dozen reasons why you need comprehensive car insurance and expanded coverage beyond state minimum requirements are summed up in the pictures and video below.

Remember, most states only require liability insurance, which does not pay for damages or injuries sustained by you or your vehicle.

Sure, you might be lucky enough to have a state which requires property damage coverage so you can pay for the side of a house but even with $10,000-20,000 of auto insurance coverage some of these drivers still had to write pretty big personal checks.

# 1. Can your car fly?

The answer is absolutely not! Whenever you’re driving and attempt to fly faster than a speeding bullet and you’re somehow expecting your car to do the same, accidents like this can and will happen. Keep all wheels firmly planted on the road, and keep your speed just under breaking the sound barrier. We wonder if pulling the car out of a house is actually covered under an AAA membership?

# 2. Anything is a FastPass lane if I’m creative enough, right?

Are you drinking coffee, texting while driving or taking a snooze while driving in the city?

Some cities have potholes, but others have wide openings that lead straight to the center of the earth.

The answer is no. Let’s hope this driver just didn’t see the hole instead of thinking it was a FastPass lane to Tokyo.

# 3. Do we have to explain what water proof means again?

When this driver paid $100 extra for Scotch Guard, clearly he also assumed he was buying a waterproof car. While your car can certainly withstand an onslaught of rain and other water-based situations, this one may not apply. Hey, can someone turn off the heated water? It’s getting a little toasty down here.

# 4. Should you stay or should you go?

Stay decisive! Bad drivers can’t quite make up their mind, and even worse drivers don’t signal when they’re changing lanes. And then there are those in an entirely separate lane altogether, pun completely intended. Though sometimes that lane turns out to be less of a lane and more of an alternate flight path. Note to drivers: anything with four wheels generally is designed to stay on land.

# 5. Does Herbie need a nap?

Very Impressive. Only Herbie could find a hole in the ground custom fit for a Beetle. Way to choose a car color also as no one will ever notice grey on grey right?

# 6. Can’t your car pick on a vehicle its own size?

Whenever you try to beat vehicles bigger than you this is what can happen. Have you ever seen a moped go against two minivans? Know your limits or spend your lunch dealing with a whole other kind of sandwich incident.

Although the odds of any of these accidents happening to you are quite low, what if you found yourself on the road in one of these scenarios?  Do you have sufficient car insurance coverage in place?

Many drivers do not have comprehensive car insurance, meaning almost all of these drivers were never covered by car insurance for many of the damages that occurred. Generally if you’re a driver who focused on getting the cheapest rate, that leads you down the path of less coverage.

Based off the photos above, are you sure you want to brave traffic and other, stranger, driving scenarios without some form of financial armor for your automated steed?

Don’t risk personal liability for the cost of a few dollars a month.
