In 1864 Hartford resident James G. Batterson was a man on a mission. The mission was to provide quality insurance product to his friends and neighbors at an affordable price.
With help from a local banker named James Bolter and a few other friends, Travelers Insurance Company was born.
The first policies to be offered by Travelers were accident insurance. BY 1897 through Travelers had issued its first automobile policy, making roadways across the midwest a little more secure for America’s first car owners.
